Several blocks adjacent to the river were designated public reserve and a riverfront park developed. The peaceful face of the City of Roseburg today belies the tragedy of 1959. Two years after the Blast, the newspaper reported “a tourist would have to look hard to find blast evidence…. new buildings, new hopes and new dreams have risen from the rubble, and Roseburg has become one of the most modern-looking cities in southern Oregon.”
