The R8/R9 have a solid (non-weight relived body), long neck tenon, and rosewood board. The R8/R9 will have a fuller, thicker, warmer sound. The LPC will have more high-end cut and edge to the tone. The long tenon will fit into the body better and can't be rocked into position. Does this really matter? I don't know. But, aside from any tonal considerations, the long tenon guitars appear to be better built to me.
